Shami Domla
Shami Domla
Said ibn Muhammad ibn Abdulwahid Ashshami Atgaroblis was born in Sham (Syria). He was a propagator of Islamic ideas. He came to Eastern Turkestan and Central Turkestan, especially in the 1920s, lived in “Degroz” and “Komirchi” neighborhoods in Tashkent, taught “Hadith” and “Tafsir of the Qur’an” in schools, and knew the Turkish language well.
In those 20s, the famous theologian Sheikh Muhammad ibn Said ibn Abdulvahid al-Asali ash-Shami al-Tarablusi came to Tashkent from Sham. In our lands of Central Asia, he was called Shami Domla out of respect for Kishn. Under the leadership of Domla Shami, the tradition of in-depth study of the wide creative heritage of our great compatriot Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari has been revived. They began to study mainly from the books “Al-Jame’ al-Sahih” (“Collection of reliable hadiths about our Prophet”), which is a product of the generation of the Prophet. Domla Shami was able to fully convey to his students his great love for Imam Bukhari’s noble personality and his zeal and enthusiasm. The young Ziyavuddin Khan, who was passionately striving to learn the science of hadith, had a special place among the students. Ziyavuddin Khan, who received his first training at the hands of his fathers and first teachers, began to learn the deep meanings of the hadiths collected by the great scholar Imam Bukhari better than others.
