Shamsuddinkhon Bobokhonov was known for his work in Islamic sciences, including theology, philosophy and history. He was also an active defender of human rights and democratic values in Uzbekistan. In 1992, he was elected a member of the Uzbek Parliament, where he advocated for religious freedom and human rights.
